Pulstar...where to begin??? Well, I don't want to say TOO MUCH, as the game actually does have quite a few videos for it already. Pulstar was released for the Neo Geo and Neo Geo CD (in 1995), Wii Virtual Console (in 2012), and PC (in 2015)...so it received a surprising degree of attention for them to have ported it twice. While the game is still pretty obscure, you have to think that there are a lot of arcade games or Neo Geo games that did NOT get ported at all. There is an excellent article by Chris Rasa at:

Also, of course, there is a Wikipedia page as well at:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulstar_(video_game)

That helps me save a lot of time, as I must confess that I have been behind on the video uploading front with all the stuff I've been busy with. Pulstar has some excellent music composed by Harumi Fujita (Bionic Commando, Gargoyle's Quest) and Yasuaki Fujita (King of Fighters '95, Mega Man 3) and the visuals are pretty good as well, though there seems to be quite a bit of slowdown in some spots...I was watching a bunch of other videos to make sure it wasn't just me. It isn't enough to take away from the experience, but it is enough to where I feel I should mention it, as many others have not. Regarding gameplay, it's fairly simple...you grab a few power-ups that offer you a variety of different abilities that help you in different situations, such as homing missiles, lasers that bounce off of walls, and a force field that surrounds your ship and allows you to ram into enemies. Something a little different from some is if you rapidly tap your shot button, you get access to a stronger rapid fire shot that accompanies your standard shot. Also, if you hold the shot button, you can release a powerful blast. Knowing when to "hold em' and fold em'" (knowing when to release a charged shot) is crucial to success in many cases, as it can really help you out to get an annoying enemy or string of enemies in one charged blast, instead of being forced to try and charge another one in a really hairy spot.

Pulstar is a decent enough game, but its

Pulstar is a decent enough game, but Blazing Star, the game that succeeds Pulstar, is even better.
