Blazing Star [ブレイジングスター] Game Sample - Arcade
Blazing Star is the sequel to "Pulstar", a decent shooter made back in 1995 that also was big on "CG" graphics. For me, Blazing Star takes pretty much everything that was good about Pulstar, cranks it up two notches (with the exception of the voices like "BONUS!" and stuff...it doesn't bother me, but I think it might bother others, lol) and gives you a ton more variety with a few cool ships, and does Pulstar some serious justice! The soundtrack is excellent...some music sorta reminds me of music I might hear in "Galactic Attack" or "Darius Gaiden"...for me, that is a VERY GOOD thing. The game has some funny "Engrish" too...but while I point that out, it is not at all a detraction and really, we would have "Japanglish" if we tried to speak Japanese...well, many would, anyway. There are quite a few videos discussing this game (though less than Pulstar, as BS seems to be a tad bit more obscure), so let me share some links with you to help lighten my load a bit so I can work on more videos, in the same fashion that I did for Pulstar:

To be brief, Blazing Star has better visuals with more sophisticated CG graphics than Pulstar, an excellent soundtrack, and the gameplay? It's very balanced and you still have the charge shot and "rapid shot" system of Pulstar, except this time, you have a lot more ships to choose from that have different functionality (power differences, speed differences, straight shot, wide shot, etc.)...there really isn't anything not to love. The game also received a couple of ports, just like Pulstar did...I have seen the screenshots for the Android version as well...it's still weird to see this games on mobile phones...maybe I will try and record it one day. One super quick last note: I liked seeing the "Yumekobo" logo make an appearance; I have always been interested in Yumekobo, ever since I played "Biomotor Unitron" on the Neo Geo Pocket Color. Yumekobo and Aicom are one and the same, but Yumekobo is the name I am more familiar with.
