Discworld Noir (1999) has been a difficult Game for modern systems compatibilities, thanks to the broken SafeDisc DRM that infested the retail 3-CD releases. The Game was supposed to work with Windows 98/ME in pristine condition but it didn't, in a way that is universal, with the performance of CPU virtualization. In QEMU TCG, the Game works on QEMU emulated Cirrus 5434 PCI SVGA without any fiddling with hacks called "qemu-3dfx". Anyway, with years of accumulated knowledges on getting the Game to play nice with real Windows XP, such knowledges can be replicable on QEMU Virtual Machine, too. It called for an "unencrypted" fixed EXE that rids the Game from SafeDisc. This is **NOT** a No-CD patch though, after all with ripped CD images, the convenience of No-CD for playing isn't really necessary and for Windows XP VM, QEMU Guest-Host user-mode networking on VIRTIO-net delivers superb performance for Guest to mount SMB shares from Windows 11 Host, saving the VM disk space from the need of FULL Installation. This is an area where "TRASH"Box and "JUNK-PC"em are seriously lacking in the convenience of Retro Gaming. Slow and useless emulated Host-Guest networking, poorly threaded IOs, the chirping & crackling audio/music playback for the **BS** on timings accuracy, are all the laughing stocks for being relevant to Retro Gaming.

The qemu-3dfx project really hopes to see more competitions in Game Preservation for the late 90's Windows era and the turn of the Millennia. Perhaps it was an effort that no one really appreciated and equally foolish in the qemu-3dfx project for such devotion. The clock for 32-bit apocalypse is ticking and will soon befall on Windows. The ceasing of 32-bit GPU drivers will be the first stab. Mark my words!😜

As with qemu-3dfx Game Preservation, there is no fear of marching forward to embrace the world of 64-bit legacy-free computing, the latest & greatest techs in CPU/GPU on modern platforms. The legacy will live on as Virtual Machines.
