QEMU Revenant (1999) (EAX) -- From Install to Play in 15 Mins
Cinematix Studios & Eidos Interactive Revenant (1999) was a one-time Diablo clone released following the success Blizzard enjoyed with the iconic hack-and-slash Action-RPG genre. It improved upon the original Diablo by the option to going into full Direct3D graphics with advanced lighting. The game featured full 16-bit colors rendered artwork that still look quite good till this day.
Unfortunately, the game's Direct3D implementation was a compatibility nightmare even just several years after its release for more modern GPUs that prevailed in the era of programmable shaders. Its frame rate capping was flawed for modern Windows. Its game engine lost audio synchronization when frame rate exceeded 30 FPS. All these problems inherently point to solution of either building retro PC with period-correct GPUs or the so-called PC emulation where accuracy matters. Otherwise, the game "Force Software Rendering" remains the only hope for reliving the nostalgia in modern days.
QEMU featuring qemu-3dfx proudly defies ALL such proclamations by restoring the original 2-CD retail release in near pristine condition with the BEST rendering quality in Direct3D with full real-time & enhanced lighting, high resolution upscaled rendering, sRGB visuals enhancement and EAX audio support. It is the unmatched BEST and HIGHEST quality that the game can be played to relive the nostalgia on any modern PC/laptops across modern Linux and Windows.
While the game recommended CPU of Pentium II 266MHz may sound feasible for whatever "Trash"Boxes or "JUNK_PC"em, such PC emulation in FULL of *Accuracy \*BS\** remains a BIG JOKE for whatever Voodoos emulation that supposedly period-correct for game such as Revenant. In reality, the Voodoos emulation overloaded the CPU into the brink of crippled audio frequently. And, it was quite a challenge for any modern laptops to be able to sustain the 100% emulation at boosted CPU clock. Otherwise, this may be a good game to showcase their relevance in PC gaming. Unfortunately for such *\*STUPID and RETARDED\** mentality in PC emulation, even a 25-FPS A-RPG, a game that has already aged for almost 25 years, proved too much to emulate.
QEMU featuring qemu-3dfx relentless efforts to Games Preservation not only showing and proving results in leveraging modern CPU virtualization and TRUE GPU acceleration, it continues to deliver the BEST and HIGHEST audio/visuals quality in PC retro gaming for Good OLD Games on thin-and-light modern laptops for the enjoyment of "Play Anywhere, Play Anytime".
A BIG THANK YOU to everyone for supporting the Project and Games Preservation.
