QEMU Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II The Sith Lords (2005) -- Kudos to MESA OpenGL
7QEMU featuring qemu-3dfx presents yet another PC game masterpiece in STAR WARS theme into Retro Gaming on modern Linux. Kudos to MESA OpenGL, the Gallium3D-based OpenGL implementation supports ATI_fragment_shader which enables the BEST visuals quality for the game's "Frame Buffer Effects" and "Soft Shadows". The ATI extension is maintained & supported on any modern Intel/AMD GPUs and likely for any GPUs based on MESA Gallium3D, including Microsoft GLon12 and Zink OpenGL. Besides the ATI extension, two more WGL extensions are required for "Frame Buffer Effects", WGL_ARB_pbuffer and WGL_ARB_render_texture. Borrowing the solutions from WINE, they seemed to be quite easily emulated using GLXPbuffer. WGL_NV_render_texture_rectangle required for "Soft Shadows" can also be easily extended for MESA OpenGL that already supported ARB_texture_rectangle. QEMU MESAGL Linux GLX and SDL2-GL backends were updated to support them.
In summary, for non-NVIDIA GPUs, the BEST visuals and HIGHEST quality can be achieved with OpenGL supporting the following extensions:

- WGL_ARB_render_texture
"Soft Shadows"
- WGL_NV_render_texture_rectangle
The video showing the retail 4-CD version patched to 1.0b in pristine condition with only Fixed/NoCD EXE applied to bypass the DRM disc-check. The game almost entirely depends on GPU acceleration as the CPU graphs showed idling CPUs despite the requirements called for Pentium III 1GHz. Ryzen 2500U isn't a very fast CPU by modern standard with max-boost clock less than 4GHz while the Vega Graphics APU could be bandwidth-starved with DDR4-2400MHz. Nevertheless, the game remained playable, even with the FPS dropped in large area. The videos from qemu-3dfx always try best to show honest in-game stats with integrity. It is a BIG SLAP for a wake-up reality check on whatever "Trash"Boxes or "JUNK_PC"em without CPU virtualization and GPU acceleration. For QEMU featuring qemu-3dfx, the LAUGHING OFF is simply too much for 13th-gen Core i7-13900 to be able to only attain Pentium II 400MHz to 450MHz emulation with an equally USELESS whatever Voodoos emulation for games that demand advanced OpenGL capabilities in the same league as Direct3D8+. Even a real Voodoo5 on Pentium III 1GHz may not even play this game as well as the 20W TDP 2018 Ryzen 2500U on thin-and-light laptop.
As always, the game is only $9.99 from GOG and DRM-free for those who would avoid the hassles of compiling QEMU featuring qemu-3dfx from source or a small donation supporting one's favorite PC Games Preservation deemed too expensive to afford.
