wasnt planning to include Quake III Arena as it doesnt have a campaign but after loading it up for a round i instantly suffered from a nostalgia overload

This game has more sentimental value than i remembered, as it wasnt only the first game i would play at a LAN party but would in fact be the game to convince me to take up the mouse & keyboard over a controlpad

for context you have to understand in Australia in the late 90s the internet was god awful & the only acceptable way to play multiplayer was through a modem (2 Player) or through a LAN (our HUB was 12 player)

back in 1999 (the good old days) my friend hosted a LAN party over the xmas break, myself & another friend were both controlpad veterans but got completely obliterated in the first night of play by the guys using mouse+keyboard, blatantly obvious a change was needed... so talking that night (after our reality check) we agreed to wake up a few hours earlier than everyone else & force ourselves to learn mouse+keyboard, the next day we still got smoked (lol) but were able to hold our own & actually put up a fight, i havent touched a controlpad on a First Person Shooter since

funny, after playing for abit i found myself jumping around, a style of play i had long abandoned as most shooters these days dont really require it
