16While people are capable of the most incredible heights of brilliance, we are equally capable of some of the most ridiculously thoughtless actions and acting upon some of the greatest bad ideas ever conceived.
And that's why you should let Players as well as have NPC's do the dumb thing. Bad choices can do a lot to tell a story in and of itself without you ever having to go on an exposition dump or long winded tirade.
From the most gaudy and impractical of armors to impulsively pursuing the first thought to have happened to have passed through your mind, bad ideas make the world turn.
