Rainbow Six Siege - Best Competitive Graphics Settings Guide - Increase Performance for Ranked - PC
I wanted to go over the Best Competitive Graphics Settings for Rainbow Six Siege (for Ranked play specifically). These are the settings I use for the best performance without making the game look horrible.
When you're playing a competitive shooter - you tend to want to maximize your fps right? At the same time - you want the game to look as good as it can. Those of us with 120 or 144 hz monitors are going to want to get up as close to that level as we can.
in Display you'll want to pay attention to these settings
Mode = Fullscreen
Vsync = Off
Fov = 90 for best visibility
Texture Quality - Very High, this setting doesn't impact fps very much so I set it to the recommended level for a 4 GB video card. Each step down reduces recommended by 1 GB, so high is 3, medium is 2, etc.
Texture Filtering - Anisotropic 16x (reduces blurriness on angled textures which is a pet peeve of mine) you can gain a few fps by setting this to Linear if you don't mind it yourself
LOD Quality - Very High - This setting doesn't have a huge impact on fps, so I just put it to very high so I can see virtually all scenes with fairly high level of detail meshes
Shading Quality - This is a pretty huge performance boost on low, but in my opinion it makes the game look horrible. The difference between medium and high is very small as far as performance is concerned, but high looks better so I went with it
Shadow Quality - Set this to medium so that you still have dynamic shadows which can be useful for locating people in some lighting scenarios
Reflection quality - low - we don't need reflections confusing us!
Ambient Occlusion - This one is tough for me. HBAO+ looks much better, but turning it off completely saves a solid amount of FPS. Don't use SSBC. The problem with ambient occlusion in general is that it essentially adds shadows to things to give them a more realistic appearance and add depth. It looks great in many ways - but sometimes it is inaccurate in the way it adds the shadow and I'm sure there are situations where these added shadows could reduce your visibility in when scanning a room for a target. I'm on the fence about this one, so try it on and off - see what you think.
You want lens effects and zoom in depth of field off - these will save some fps and just add unnecessary visual effects to the game
Post process AA you want on FXAA or off
MSAA you want on Temporal Filtering. MSAA and TXAA are much nicer to look at, but they are performance hogs.
and there you have it!
