Random SciFi Roguelite Demon Dungeons Await! – The Last Citadel Demo –
The Last Citadel is an Indie, SciFi Action Roguelite where you dash and blast through Random Demon Dungeons: fun!
Combat In The Random Demon Dungeons:
The Dungeons in The Last Citadel are random, born of Procedural Generation, so you never know exactly what will be in the next room.
You tear through the rooms, using your guns and gear, blasting away demons for green and purple gems: get the shinies!
You have 2 guns at the start: one that deals good damage, and requires ammo, and another, which does not, and does not.
Though, much of your damage and survivability here comes from your active use abilities you start with: think calling down lighting strikes, deploying a turret, healing yourself, or massively slowing down the enemies around you.
Most of these abilities have a lengthy cooldown, so they can’t do all the work, but along with your dash, they add a hefty amount of damage and survivability to your weapon arsenal.
In The Last Citadel, the enemies have collision; good, as this means you can’t just walk through them like they don’t exist, as is often the case in MMOs like WoW, adding a real bit of physicality to the demon monsters, as they can and will surround and pound you down if you get careless.
Expanding on that physicality, your dash ability cannot just phase right through enemies; good, as this means melee monsters become much more of a threat, especially in numbers, not the joke they often become in the seemingly never-ending tide of Vampire Survivors likes.
Wasting the demons in The Last Citadel often grants gems; either the rarer purple meta currency gems, or the much more common green gems.
The green gems are the within run currency, used in the demon dungeon to buy upgrades for the run.
There are odd shops where you can buy 1 of 3 passive abilities using the green gems, like a 50% increase to run speed; an ability to release a slowing pulse when hit; or -50% damage when not moving; very impactful stuff like that.
There are also alteration altars you can find, where for 50 green gems, you can improve your weapons; nice.
Sometimes, there are boxes of ammo and medkits you can find around as well.
You can also find the gun merchant.
You can loot stoned bodies for currency too; creepy, but handy.
So, there’s fun and handy stuff to find in the demon dungeon.
And the loot does not disappear here; good!
Meta Progression:
The blue gems looted in the demon dungeon are used in the starting HUB area to unlock new weapons, as well as new offensive, defensive, supportive abilities, and passives, so there is a lot of meta progression to unlock here.
Controller Support is present, as is good old mouse and keyboard.
I found the aiming just felt much better with mouse and keyboard, so that is what I used in the above video.
Online Co-op is present as well, up to 4 players in a team, in case that is something that interests you.
Note: This is an Early look at The Last Citadel so any bugs or other oddness is not representative of the final product.
Still, The Last Citadel is an Indie, Sci-Fi Action Roguelite where you dash and blast through Random Demon Dungeons, and is easily well worth a wishlist and a watch.
