Dig Dug 2 was developed by Namco in 1986 and released on the Nintendo. The object of the game is to eliminate all of the enemies , either by destroying them with your pump, or fracturing the island with your drill so that the smaller portion of the island collapses, killing all of the fygars and pookas on the surface. If you drop enough enemies into the ocean a fruit or vegetable appears.

There's a button for pumping and button for drilling, and you need to be on the circular pegs facing the direction you want to crack. I have a bit of trouble turning and sometimes it's hard to find the right line to walk on, but it's still fun to drill. You can also slow enemies down by putting cracks between you, and later levels require the art of negotiating position. so there's a lot going on within this seemingly simple mechanic.

Dig dig II is a quite a departure from the original Dig Dug, but it still feels like a true sequel.
The game looks fine and the sound is good. There are 72 different islands to enjoy before returning to round 1. If you die on the NES version, you can choose to start from whichever level you've reached. There is also an arcade version of this game which has different levels,
and for those of you have played both arcade and the NES edition, tell us which you think is the definitive experience. Overall, Dig Dug II is a sequel of rare achievement - one that changes up the entire gameplay for a fresh adventure and still retains core ideas to keep it intact to the original.
