Hi this is Andrew from http://www.gametestplay.com and today I'll be playing Kid's Horehore Daisakusen. KHD was made by Nichibutsu in 1987 and released through Hamster's Arcade Archives Series on the PS4. The object of the game is to collect all of the treasure chests, grab the key and get to the door. Your primary defense is digging holes that can trap most enemies, but really you'll want to grab the pickups scattered throughout the maze if you really want to go on offense. There's a good amount of enemies and power ups such as yoyos, rollerskates, ice guns, and flamethrowers in addition to obstacles such as doors, jump springs, and warp zones. There are 32 mazes in total that span 5 different time periods, that contain slightly different enemy encounters.

The controls in this game are okay, a little stiff at times. Only on occasion did I find myself cornered an unable to cope with the moving and digging mechanics. Digging a hole requires 2 button presses, not just 1, and you can trap enemies in the hole by burying them with another press, but then a grave will appear which prevents you from digging there again.

The game looks sharp and there's enough variety to keep it thoroughly entertaining. Each maze feels different, and it's fun to try different routes. There is a glitch where you can wonder half off screen, but it's not common. The Arcade Archives emulation comes with a high score and caravan mode to keep the leaderboards meaningful. I really wish this game had been given it's original English title, Booby Kids, because it would have gone on to sell a lot more copies.
