First you should know that it doesn't matter how quickly you complete the levels. The most important factor early on is being able to drop a rock on multiple enemies at once, so this becomes the primary focus of the first 5 to 8 levels. You should always consider the position of the enemies and try to get them bunched up. If you must destroy the enemies with you pump, remember that the further down they are, the more points they're worth. Oh and Fygars are worth more when destroyed horizontally. After around level 8 the enemies will be too fast to keep kiting, so you'll need to kill a few at first to make the level manageable.
