It’s been a while since my controversial review of Rocksmith+ on Bass. Seriously, if the thumbs down did anything, I would cry in my room. However, since hat review, Ubisoft has released many updates on the game to entice players to stay. Were these changes enough, or does the pizza need more time in the oven? Let’s find out while I play Rocksmith+ on guitar for sixty days. My name is Jack Jenkins and welcome to my channel where I do reviews and challenges for self-improvement. Let’s rock!
[Intro]
Before I begin, I recommend watching my Rocksmith Plus on Bass video review. It will give you an overview of the system and how it works. This video will mostly discuss the changes made since I have made that review. I previously determined that the game wasn’t worth the subscription price. Let’s see if all the work Ubisoft San Fransico put in worked in making the game any better.
If you are wondering how my guitar playing journey has been is, then… look at the screen behind me. I still suck at the guitar and am much better on bass. My trouble is still with chords and fitting all my fat fingers. If you are new here, I have a playlist this video as well as many others are under called learning guitar. I’ve gotten the basics down at this point but It’s been about six months since I’ve picked up the axe. I’ll never get good at this rate but all I want is to just be able to play some blink-182. I haven’t really progressed at all so the focus is going to be less on my improvement of the instrument and more with the software itself.
Now let’s get into my biggest complaint last time, Ubisoft Connect. Ubisoft Connect is a broken pile of crap that barely ran on my computer, even after reaching out to tech support a few times. It crashed contently and caused me to stop my previous review early. I was dreading returning to the rest of the instruments because I knew they just won’t work. However, I was proven wrong.
Since that review, something amazing happened. Rocksmith+ is out on Steam! That means I can start the game without having to use that client. It uses the client in the background, which stinks. However, it was updated and has worked on my computer since then. No more crashes or false starts… it’s just working. That means I could actually play the game I purchased, which is amazing. I’m sure Ubisoft support also doesn’t like to hear me complain and send them endless log files. According to my count, the game crashed three times, but that is far better than every other day, like it was doing with Ubisoft Connect.
The game also added many new features I requested in the previous review. Instead of being directionless, we now have daily challenges to complete. Three each day with the ability to swap one out. That little change added so much direction for new players and made discovering new songs easier. Speaking of, there are a ton of amazing new songs that were added since the game was released. We now have Metallica out on the system. These are the original tracks, which is just amazing. In fact, I had to swap to bass for a few days to play some of the songs. Sorry, guitar, but you’re nothing compared to Cliff Burton.
They’ve also been expanding the lessons tab with a ton of new content. The guitar already had much more content than the bass, but it’s improved greatly. It’s still not on the level of something like Yousician, but it’s getting there. The search page has also been expanded to include tuning types and genera picks. A lot of improvements have been made in such a short time. I played guitar from June twenty-fourth to August twenty-first, and I saw the game transform in front of my eyes. Don’t worry. I am still playing the game as I recorded this video in November, so the information isn’t outdated. Unless you are watching it like a year from now.
Lastly, I want to get to the improved communication the company is provided. Each month, they release a “What’s New to Rocksmith+” video highlighting the new songs and content changes....
