Abstract Strategy Game
Santorini is an abstract board game where players take control of workers on the Greek Island of Santorini as they move and construct buildings. Its a race between the players to see who can get to the 3rd level of any building structure first to win the game.
In a standard game of Santorini, players essentially take turns to MOVE a worker into an adjacent space, either up one level, down any level or on the same level and then CONSTRUCT a building level adjacent to where the worker just moved into to.
It can be likened to a game of chess but with a much simpler, focused game system that still recreates the same tension and high level of strategic thinking of a Chess game. Unlike connect 4 or noughts and crosses, Santorini raises the level of gameplay in three dimensions creating for an ever changing and evolving landscape where players change the board.
Santorini is a board game that is sure to become a classic time and time again due to its nature as a gateway game.
