Top 5 Quick Tips For Building a Strong Winning Sealed Magic: The Gathering Deck at your FIRST PRERELEASE in the Sealed Deck Format for BEGINNERS & NEWBIES

This video aims to give brand new players some quick tips about how to build a strong winning Magic: The Gathering deck at prerelease in the sealed deck play format.

This video is mainly aimed at beginners and focuses on some of the basic concepts (but not all as Magic is incredibly deep) that are required for building a deck for those who are preparing to play their first ever prerelease event at their local FLG game store.

A prerelease is a casual tournament style event that your local game store conducts which allows players to register and open, play and build with the newest cards from the latest Magic The Gathering Set one week before their official release! It is an opportunity to test out the new mechanics, get cool deck ideas, secure a cool date stamped foil promo card and meet and make some new friends.

The event is conducted as a Sealed Deck Format where players need to build a deck with a minimum of 40 cards from 6 booster packs included in what is known as a prerelease pack. The cards in your deck (except basic lands which are provided by the game store) must come from these booster packs.

How To Start Playing Magic The Gathering: A Beginners Guide

Magic: The Gathering is a Collectable Trading Card Game where players take on the role of Planeswalkers as they build customisable decks that consist of creatures, spells, instants, sorceries, enchantments, planeswalkers and artifacts and battle each other until one player claims ultimate victory.

Players battle each other using their decks in a range of various playable formats including Standard, Modern, Limited, Legacy, Commander, EDH, Sealed, Constructed, Drafting and for Casual Play. A typical deck is usually composed of a minimum of 60 cards (100 for Commander). It is a game about building the best decks, exploring card combos and synergy.

Over recent years, Wizards of the Coast have introduced some very cool Planeswalkers through the mythos and story arcs from each block in MTG (Magic: The Gathering) including Jace, Liliana, Chandra, Gideon, Elspeth, Nissa, Garruk, Ob Nixilus, Kiora, Saheeli, Tezzeret and many more.

Each block (eg. Kaladesh / Aether Revolt / Ahmonkhet, Hour of Devastation / Ixalan) in Magic the Gathering is comprised on two sets that work together in narrative flavour and mechanics.

We hope you find this video as enjoyable to watch as fun as it was to film.

We wish you good luck in your many adventures in Magic: The Gathering.
