Scruffy 4 (2008) Pre-Alpha Stuff
Strato-Scruffy got a lot more attention than I thought it would, so I went back into the Super Freaks mines to drag out another long on hiatus game. This one is arguably more interesting!
If you've been following me for the past few years you may have heard mention of a "Super Freaks 4ever" which I continue to hype up as the best thing since sliced bread. Super Freaks 4ever has taken me absolutely forever to make and has been in development so long that it no longer resembles the original game it started as. Today, I bring you the primordial form of 4ever...
...well, as close as possible, anyway. 4ever's original time travel themed game was dropped early on, early enough where I think I conceptualized about half the game at most, so there will have to be a lot of new ideas as well. At the VERY beginning of the project it was to have the same art style as 1-3, but I dropped that in favor of this smaller one pretty quickly. Had I finished this version back in the day, it probably would've looked a lot like this, just a lot stiffer.
Speaking of stiff, this game is anything but; it plays like the exact opposite of Ultimate Edition and I'm actually very impressed with how it's been turning out. You can swap between all four Super Freaks, each with their own special move, and on top of that you have a spin attack which functions like a hybrid between the DKC roll and the NSMBW mid-air twirl. You can extend your jump pretty far with it. The sole thing keeping your movement options from being completely broken is a stamina meter in the top left corner of the screen. These are ideas I'd like to carry forward after I practice and refine them here.
