Part Three: Under Monkey Island is the section of the game which really stumped me. Not just once but twice! This section really relies upon being inquisitive about everything and anything in the game. With that being said, this part of the game is where the storyline can diverge in several different ways. There are multiple ways to solve different problems and, in the special edition, there are trophies tied to some of these various methods.
"Marooned Everyone" and "Escape Artist" both have things that can change the storyline and require disparate choices in this part. Aside from these trophies there are several other puzzles which have multiple options to complete them. Feel free to explore and indeed you should in order to get the "Recordkeeper" trophy. I think all of the letters are shown in this walkthrough but if you find one I missed then please comment about it below.
If you want to really know the storyline of what is going on with this strange hermit, Herman Toothrot, then you really need to take all of his conversation options but they will slow you down drastically so I did not do them for the video but instead barreled through everything.
The first goal of Part Three needs to be getting the oars for the rowboat so you can travel. Get to Herman's fort and loot it thoroughly and then head to the peak and blow up the dam to get the second rope downstream. Before you push a rock off of the top of the mountain to get the bananas from the tree on the beach that Guybrush landed on be aware that if you shoot the rock it will decide which of the two endings you get: escaping with Herman or escaping with your crew. So be aware that you will probably sink the Sea Monkey your first time.
After getting the oars, go north to the Cannibals' village and steal their bananas. Get caught and then escape from their hut by pulling up the floorboards. Come back in four more times and talk to the cannibals in order to earn "Escape Artist." Either way go back to the southern end of the island and feed the monkey who is between the "chasm" and the "beach" five bananas to get him to follow you. Take him to the Great Monkey Head to the east and get him to hold the totem nose in order to enter the yard. Once inside loot Lemonhead's little idol and head back to the village and give them the idol to get free range through their village.
