The fact that this song applies to both of their perspectives lmao. I know this fandom is probably dead by now, but while I was cleaning up my computer D drive yesterday, I realized I had an unfinished Sherliam edit. Don't know if it was schedules conflicts or motivation loss but apparently it has been sitting there for a solid 2 months LOL. I decided to check the thing out of curiosity and lo and behold it's.... actually not that bad? The approach I had with this project took me by surprise. It's felt like a mix between a full AMV and a vintage tribute? Nothing too crazy or outstanding, yet the atmostphere seems well captured. enough. In any case, I enjoyed it alot, and decided to not run away from my responsibility to actually finish this lmao. I hope I make the right decision here.

These two though... Damn. I gotta admit, they aged like wine. Like, the kind you should consumed after a hearty meal, or I guess in this case after you finish the entirety of Moriarty The Patriot. Because to be honest, I didn't ship them as much during the release of the series. I was more on Watson/Sherlock side, and even so, it was only in a platonic sense. And then came S2 finale. Oh man. I did say I fully expect Moriarty to "betray" Sherlock with his real identity-- but the way this revelation plays out still managed to get to me. The built-up to that last confrontation scene is incredibly nuanced and emotional. Not to mention the heartbreaking part about it is how Sherlock deep down already foresees everything, and wished he could've done more to save William from destroying himself. They may be archnemesis in the world's eyes, always competing against each other in battles of intellect and justice, but the truth behind the curtains worth so much more: William is Sherlock's equal in terms of intelligence--his muse, his greatest mystery, his escapade. Sherlock is William's gateway out of solitude, the only man who would ever understood him. As someone who reads the original Sherlock Holmes (but didn't finish every cases because I was too lazy) I actually adore this version of their dynamic. It's the epitome of "right people, wrong time" done to perfection.

William and James are both so magnetic as standalone characters, that I was too busy rooting for both sides than to imagine how good they are together. I never even realized that they fits all of my favorite tropes! opposite attracts, secret enemies/allies, mutual understanding, rivalry as courtship,... they can be exciting, angsty, playful, and they're about as complex to analyze as (dare I say) Phoenix/Miles (from Ace Attorney). I mean that in the best way, of course, since we all know those two are the creme de la creme of the shipping fandom.

So yeah, Sherliam grew on me right when the hype for this series died out :DD such luck, am I right? Also I must add that upon second viewing, this ship has a weird effect of making making me ten times more posh and respectful. I didn't have any motivation playing the piano this week, (I almost rage quit playing canon in D lol), but seeing these two gentlemen brought me back to it for some reasons. Is it the elegance? The aptitude? The desire to be as suave and talented as them? Idk anymore lmao. I was today years old too when I realized (or rather remembered) that Gentaro from Hypnosis Mic has the same VA as William. Soma Saito man. No wonder I got attracted to him so early on xD
