I finished this man’s story quest last night and omfg. He’s my new favourite genshin husbando now. I initially thought his character would be similar to Yae or Kaeya, but what I got was even better: a man with many facades, who is an absolute rascal/sweetheart to his loved ones, but an entirely different creature to his enemies. The whole confrontation scene with Matsuraa and the songbird analogy gives me chills. Ayato is an excellent politician, ironically more written than an actual war strategist in this game (hint hint it’s kokomi). He is clever, always thinks one step ahead, cunning, knows exactly when to put his power and sharp (sometimes cruel) words to use, but most importantly, he has a kind, gentle heart to those he cares for. I love the 180 degree flip of his character whenever he speaks about Ayaka and Thoma. It really shows you how wholesome their bond is, as well as the complexity of Ayato as a person. I was fortunate enough to get him with early pity, and after doing his quest– I crowned this man without hesitation. He might not be meta, but he definitely got my heart, and that’s more than enough reason for me to spend all my resources on him :))
