I’m back. Still very much alive lol, just too lazy to edit any new show or series (even though I’ve been consuming a ton of them ever since I took my elective film class).

Falling in love with starrail, however, took the indolence out of me completely. I remembered being so excited for the announcement of the game, watching every beta clip available at the time, and crushing hard on all the character designs. Now that the official version of is finally out, with many more charming additions to the playable cast….oh man, it is nearly impossible not to get addicted to it. I find turn-based games somewhat repetitive, but I always come back to Starrail for the lore, characters, and memey interactions. The humor in this game is amazing. Who would’ve thought that hoyoverse, notorious for their well-crafted tragedies like HI and Genshin, is also extremely good at writing comedies? XD And of course, you can’t talk about their games without mentioning the character designs and stories. I loved how much they’ve improved their animations and added more dynamic between them, like the whole chatroom for the Astral Express family, the weirdly wholesome but deadly bond between the antagonists (Silver Wolf/Kafka/Blade), the quips between the officials and their peculiar civilians in Xianzhou Luofo… I personally think the dialogue in this game flows more naturally than Genshin, even if the lore isn’t as expansive– but that might just be because I haven’t dug deep enough yet.

Regardless, I think we can all agree that the playable cast is gorgeous, pretty, and captivating as hell. And hoyoverse, being the sneaky bastards that they are, also adds in a few idiosyncrasies and fanservices here and there to make us love them even more. Jing Yuan’s idleness contrasting with his authoritative position, Gepard secretly being an artistically-incompetent cutie when not in battle, my girl qingque who literally slacks off at work so that people won’t expect much from her (and play board game like it’s Yu-Gi-Oh), Blade’s edgelord roblox smirk and jiggle physics, Kafka’s dom mommy energy, Dan Heng giving us the wrong kind of CPR despite being an intelligent walking dictionary, Bronya and Seele relationship mirroring that of the one they shared in Honkai Impact, Sampo rizzing and breaking the fourth wall, and the list go on lmao. The MC in this game really shines too. Since they fall into the “literally-born-yesterday” trope, there’s so many wild and weird things they do and say. Like obsessing over finding stuff in trash cans and scaring people from the closet of a hotel. If that doesn’t scream best game’s MC of the year, I don’t know what does. And their design is PEAK. Had my questioning my sexuality the first time the game told me to choose between the male and female version. I love their relationship with the Astral Crew as well, with Himeko and Welt as the wise parents; and the hyperactive, endearing March, and the reserved but gentle Dan Heng setting off their somewhat deadpanned eccentricity perfectly. One of the reasons why I started playing the game was because of those two, and even until now, they owned my heart.

–So yeah, I thought I’ll project my love for the game’s characters through this edit. It’s meant to be somewhat lighthearted, highlighting the character’s charm, beauty and personality. I tried to follow the lyrics as closely as possible, but of course, there will be exceptions due to the lack of footage lol. I hope you all enjoy it for what it is, though.
