Shock Troopers 2nd Squad (Arcade) CO-OP Playthrough / More action, for the price of everything else.
Shock Troopers 2nd. Squad (1998) by Saurus is a sequel to the highly successful run-and-gun game. The question is whether it actually lived up to the expectations placed in it. Well, and it falls out more or less, with one aspect improved and two made worse. Apparently there is more action and explosions, but it has suffered, the graphical style and complexity of the game. The game is more linear and the graphical style feels like it doesn't know what it's supposed to be until the end. The mix of 2D and 3D graphics came out ..... hmmm how to put it. Bland..... in the best sense of the word. Because these execution of sprites in chibi style mixed with backgrounds and boss models in 3d doesn't combine well to say the least. Also the explosions look like they were done in a completely different style, lacking order and composition, as if the creators couldn't decide what direction to take. There is also more emphasis on linear, but more action-packed levels and occasional vehicles that we can control. Compared to the many ways available in the original. The number of characters has also been reduced to 4 from 8 in the first part. But even despite this fact, the game is still well-balanced, but not as well-balanced as the original, and this is evident with Lulu's weapon splatter, which literally covers 50% of the screen. Despite the fact that she has the least firepower, she still destroys practically everything 2 times better than her comrades. But is the game bad because of all this ? Of course not, despite the fact that it's not as good as the original it still gives a lot of fun and excitement. The gameplay is very dynamic and shooting successive waves is very satisfying. After reading a few comments about the game, I agree with many statements that the game is worse than its predecessor, but I do not agree with the thesis that it is bad only because it did not fully meet expectations. 2nd Squad is really enjoyable, only you have to give it a chance and turn a blind eye to the uneven graphics, then any reasonable player should be satisfied with it. A very good title although uneven.
