After the run with Between Two Worlds, I wondered if perhaps the time is due for Absolute Zero to shine. Unfortunately, it just had to be a tedious mod to test. Turning on raw mouse input everytime I launch despite my best attempts to set it off, requiring me to literally bind keys to turn it on ingame so I can turn it off again, eventually got on my nerves enough that it killed my interest. Even with the neat differences AZero's got, I've decided to go with Signal Lost again for this setup.

This time, I'm properly putting SLost's custom entities to use. It's not just the classic modmix where I load up HL1 maps with SLost and play it as is, it's time for some entity edits. The minigun grunts, different zombie and headcrab variants, the RPG grunts, health stims instead of the regular medkits, the works. Quite fitting considering the bizarro world Black Mesa this mapset ended up being. Slightly semi non-linear in design too, kinda reminds me of Quake 2 with the objectives.

While I'm at it, did the usual and start tampering with things. Hires HUD's the obvious one, though other things did nibble away at me. The crossbow's missing face on the magazine has always bugged me in HL1, and it's unfortunate that SLost didn't fix it at all. Went and did exactly that. Same thing with the odd "snark maybe chumtoad maybe" models. Grabbed the ol' CT viewmodel and cobbled it up to match the squeak's setup. Also used the HUD stuff from Azure Sheep to match.
