Released in 2003, Silent Hill 3 wraps up the story that began in Silent Hill 1. It's a mixture of focusing on psychological horror with elements of the cult that were mostly in the background of Silent Hill 2.

While I feel Silent Hill 2 is the best of the Team Silent titles, I do find Silent Hill 3 to be the most replayable. It does have some of the strongest sections and horror of the series, and one of the better protagonists in gaming, Heather Mason.

There are some sections that do drag a bit in Silent Hill 3, and some of the introspective psychological horror aspects were dialed back to focus more on the cult.

It doesn't do anything groundbreaking but is more of a refinement of what came before. That said, Silent Hill 3 is still one of those survival horror essentials that anyone with a passing interest in the genre should have played by now.
