Simple Amiga Hacking Part 2 - Hacking Text in Games, Apps and Tools.
The text in games and applications is most often listed as alphabetical characters within the code itself. When it comes time to compile the code, the compiler just leaves those characters where they are, and it is possible to edit the code with a HEX editor, and therefore change those words.
Using this method, it can be possible to translate some games by hacking the lines of text. But watch out, because if you remove a special character, a hard 'return', a hard 'space', or a false full stop, it means the program will refuse to load, and goes to a black screen. So it is important to always create dated BACKUPS of your software, before you start to hack anything, and then gave each edit as a new version. Then if anything goes wrong, you can go back to an earlier revision, and not loose everything.
