Sneech is a 1994 tron/light cycles, 'snakes on acid' type of game, with lots of players and weapons etc - a bit like Speedball 2 meets a Mad Max Thunderdome. Filled to the brim with 'Only Amiga..!' goodness, including impressive audio, and mind-warped levels of combat. It's a classic!

Back in the days of swapping disks in the school playground, there was never an end to the types of software that could pass along the chain. Graphics Demos, music, shareware, and even the odd animation came my way, including the Eric Schwartz stuff, and things like this. I'm not exactly sure where or how I found it*, but I remember this being one of my all time classic PD favourites. It is not so gripping to watch in a video, but stuck out in a field of hungry worms is really crazy sometimes, when you find yourself unable to stop moving, and you must pick your battles in order to avoid getting beaten up, is actually a lot of fun, and there is always a one-more-try factor. This, along with Tanx, Scorched Tanks, and The Adventures of Quik and Silva were always on the list to cover, it's just that it takes so long to get through all of the AAA Amiga classic to get here! [*Note: this game was given away on the cover of Amiga Format in 1996, but I never bought AF]

Due to the random nature of the game, and the fact I hadn't played it in a long time, I couldn't really show much of my old tactics and give many tips. Some are shared in the narration. I didn't really show much of the team game. If you change the colours of two teams to be all the same e.g. blue and red, it means your team can help you to gang up on the enemies, and you share the cash generated by your team - which can lead to a different kind of mayhem. Each game can quickly turn on its head sometimes, and in the footage I was utterly beaten by the enemies; but that's just the way it goes. Perhaps playing this on an 000 processor would make the AI a lot more dumb than trying to give it the brain power of an 030?

Danscore:
When super fans talk about 'Only Amiga', they mean the crazy things that could only every appear on our beloved platform - either because of fluffy mascot-waving company policy, or copyright of any description. The Amiga PD scene is chock full of games like Death Row Gameshow, and Roll or Die, that the scene was awash with far-out Jeff Minter-style wacky stuff. Sneech is Nibbler on acid, and taken into the 21st Century - with all the weapons and obstacles you would imagine, to make a Tony Hawks Pro arena full of things to negotiate. The old issues like getting stuck inside your own tail, or getting trapped in corners are no issue thanks to auto pass and reverse power ups. There are random drops of money, speed, increased length and even reduce length tokens; the latter creating a mine field of downgrades as the levels slowly fill up. Not to mention the random factors, including in the scoring and cash rewards, and certain level layouts; which means you can never be certain of anything. If feels like being thrown in at the deep end, with a screen load of conga eels - all waiting to take a bite out of our head! The atmosphere is also unique to this game, even down to the digitised Dali images, and obscure and peculiar sound effects. Overall, I'd give this 9 out of 10 as a PD game, and at least a 6.5 if this has been released commercially. There is plenty to offer the whole family, and with AmigaLive and modern net play, it means online multi-player death-matches are not out of the question. A classic.
