Skip robot rematches in Mega Man (NES) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts30
In Mega Man for the NES, there's a weird and minimally convoluted glitch you can exploit to skip four of the robot refights in Dr. Wily's fortress stage 4. It involves mashing a button very fast, but I believe in you.
In Wily Stage 4 after a short section with some moving platforms (and one really annoying jump) there's a teleporter pod that will take you to a rematch against Bomb Man. Normally after defeating Bomb Man, Mega Man would need to complete the boss gauntlet by fighting three more robot masters: Fire Man, Ice Man, and Guts Man.
However, while you're fighting Bomb Man in the refight room, there's a strange glitch you can preform that will allow you to skip right to the final boss door.
If you place one or more platforms in the room using the Magnet Beam then take damage from a bomb or Bomb Man himself, you can then press the Start button to make Mega Man flinch upward and backward. The goal here is to get Mega Man to flinch into the ceiling to start a zip that will warp you to the final checkpoint.
So if there are Magnet Beam platforms in the boss room and Mega Man takes damage at or near enough to the ceiling, you can begin to mash the Start button rapidly, and if you're fast enough, Mega Man will squeeze through the ceiling into the next room. Once this happens, don't touch anything on your controller; Mega Man will zip through a few rooms then explode.
Once you respawn, Mega Man will be at the final check point just in front of the door to Dr. Wily's chamber. And then you can go beat the game. And you've just skipped the refights against Bomb Man (mostly), Fire Man, and Ice Man. And Guts Man.
It doesn't seem like you need multiple platforms in the room in order to get this to work, but I had better luck when there were exactly two Magnet Beam platforms when I started mashing Start (not Select). It's unclear whether a bomb or an explosion needs to be on the screen in order for this to work, but to me it didn't seem to make a difference. Lastly, I'm not sure if this is relevant but I seemed to have better luck with this glitch when Mega Man was facing to the left when I started mashing the button.
