This is the final boss of the Ringed City DLC. Slave knight Gael reminds me of a few fights from the past, namely Artorias. He's fast, aggressive, and can kill quickly if you get careless.

Phase 1 is arguably the most difficult due to his moveset and somewhat erratic movements. He's on all fours and defies the laws of gravity and physics on the regular with his jumps. If he's on the ground, normally he takes two swings but 3 is not unheard of. This makes finding time to hit a tricky prospect. The safest time is after his dive attack or his attempted grab. He grabs when he jumps and his swords radiates pink energy. Rolling to the side avoids both these attacks and leaves him open to a charged r2.

Phase 2 is much easier in my opinion if you know which direction to dodge. Dodge either to the weapon side or toward him. If you dodge backwards, you're liable to be caught by his cape which has a longer range than his sword. It hurts almost as bad by the way so be aware. He also has a nasty attack using a repeating crossbow but is nullified by shields or just sprinting to the side. Rolling is not recommended. His other notable attacks are a beefed up way of the white corona, simply stay to the opposite side of Gael until it comes back. His other is a spinning move where he charges up a for a moment before spinning. Rolling through him nullifies it but the timing is tricky. If you see him lunge forward at the end of a combo, counter since it's easily punished.

His third phase is a little tricky but mainly because now when he jumps toward you he doesn't stop at one. Normally he goes 3 times, dodging towards him is recommended here. He also jumps and follows with a spin sometimes if you're far away. His most devastating attack to me is a variation of the 3 jump combo where on his second jump instead of the usual timing, he'll start firing his repeating crossbow while in the air causing extra hang time. Following this he crashed down and if you got caught with an arrow, it's almost a guaranteed two hits. This is fatal normally so adjust your dodge timing accordingly. I can't tell you how as I'm still learning but shields make it much easier since you can block the arrows, then dodge the strike as per usual.

That's about it, make sure you get the 2 titanite slabs before you go for good. That's all for the Ringed City DLC, so have fun everyone.
