SNK vs. Capcom Chaos [Arcade] - Shin Akuma (with both endings)
This is a playthrough using Shin Akuma in the Arcade MVS version of SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos. Read on below for more information...
Shin Akuma is one of two possible main final bosses. He is a non-selectable character in the Neo-Geo Arcade MVS version of the game, but is a hidden playable character in the Neo-Geo AES Console version of it.
===== SELECTING SHIN AKUMA IN AES VERSION =====
On the character select screen, press and hold [START] to activate the random/roulette cursor. Now input the following:
Left, Up, Up, Right, Up, Down, Down, Right, Left, Left, Up, Down. Now press any attack button with [START] still held down, and Shin Akuma will be selected.
Remember, this only works on the AES Console version of the game.
===== ABOUT SHIN AKUMA =====
He is the more powerful version of Akuma, also known as True Akuma or True Devil. Storyline-wise, this is the form Akuma becomes when he becomes almost one with the Satsui no Hado power. In short, this is basically him fighting at full strength without holding back.
Gameplay-wise in SvC, he is a very powerful character with Double Air Fireballs and walks much faster than regular Akuma. He even has a unique Exceed move, the Misogi. Best of all, he does not need any super gauge for his three main super moves, which means he has infinite super moves! His "weakness" is that he inflicts generally low damage.
===== ADDITIONAL INFORMATION =====
---- He does not require any super gauge to perform his Super Dragon Punch, Super Fireball and Air Super Fireball. This means that he can do these whenever he wants.
---- He has slightly lower and faster jumps than regular Akuma. This makes him harder to anti-air.
---- All of his fireballs are larger than regular Akuma's ones.
---- He has a unique Exceed move called the Misogi which takes the place of the Raging Demon held by regular Akuma as an Exceed move.
---- Shin Akuma still has the Raging Demon, except that for him it is his Super move. It also inflicts lesser damage. Unlike his other supers, this one requires one level of gauge.
---- He does not have regular Akuma's Somersault special move.
---- As mentioned earlier, he walks much faster regular Akuma.
---- As mentioned earlier, he has Double Air Fireballs.
---- His Super Air Fireball, if it fully hits a grounded opponent, does not knock the opponent down. Regular Akuma's one does knock the opponent down.
---- His Taunt is different, his one emits aura while regular Akuma's one doesn't.
---- His pre-fight intro is different to regular Akuma's one.
---- His ground super fireball (Messatsu Gou Hadou) travels much faster than regular Akuma's one, especially the Heavy Punch version of it.
---- Surprisingly, his proper ending is different to regular Akuma's one.
---- He is actually called Shin Akuma on the character select screen, but just Akuma under his lifebar.
===== ABOUT SVC CHAOS =====
SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos is basically SNK's mainstream attempt at the crossover fighting game with Capcom. It was not as popular as Capcom's two CvS games, but SvC did develop quite a significant fanbase among certain groups.
The gameplay is your typical SNK system, it is somewhat similar to KOF and is quite technical. Combos are generally hard to pull off because it requires precision and also because there generally tends to be "less possibilities" when compared to a SFA or CvS game.
Graphics-wise, I think SNK did a very job at depicting the Capcom characters in the "SNK" style, they are very detailed sprites with impressive animation... M.Bison's chipmunk face and his waving hand in his neutral stance will always be a classic. Dare I say that I would have wanted to see more Capcom characters in this SNK style.
One of the best things about this game is definitely the pre-fight character dialogue exchanges. Every character has a unique dialogue exchange with every character... they really do give you an insight into each character's personality and their relationships with each other. If you like this kind of thing, then SvC is for you.
