Cream: Helping Hand
Cream helps Sonic is a pretty unusual way in Sonic Generations: This City Escape stage has a lot of stuff that can hurt Sonic but no Rings. Cream, ever so sweet and kind, swoops in with a team of five Chao to give Sonic a Ring if he ever gets hurt.
Press the Y (or Triangle) button for a Chao to hand Sonic a Ring. If all five Chao have donated their Rings to Sonic, then pressing Y will have Cream give the last Ring herself. After that, Sonic gets no Rings.
This is the one partner mission where the help is not required at all. But it's awfully difficult to get by without getting hit here, especially if you're aiming for the S-Rank. You don't get any boost from anywhere else either--each Ring Sonic gets here refills half of the Boost Gauge, so if you're aiming for sheer speed, you will use Cream's assistance. Also, I noticed some of you are curious about that upper area around the second corner in the stage. It's used for this mission.
By the way, you may notice I "failed" the S-Rank condition here. But when you hit the bumpers at the end, your timer gets sent back 5 seconds for each Chao remaining (but not Cream). Here, it rewound the timer so I finished before 1 minute 30 seconds, allowing me to get the S-Rank again. See? It'll be a close call.
The music here is a combination of the opening theme and the credits theme ("You're My Hero") from the Saturn version of Sonic 3-D Blast, which I found was quite the surprise. However, the credits do say Richard Jacques contributed to the soundtrack, so something from that game would've had to make it in here if he had anything to say about it.
Cream is voiced by Michelle Ruff. You may remember her as Rukia Kuchiki in Bleach.
