My second attempt was much more successful. Much more. I reached the final areas with over a dozen lives and four continues. And was able to knock them out much quicker. Part of that, however, is the fact that I went into the emulator settings and turned up the CPU speed, to get rid of all the lag. Without that frustration - and with the practice I got last time - I was able to breeze through the levels.

This doesn't feel like a 'real' Sonic game to me. Not just because of the controls and lower fidelity, but the level design itself. The auto scroller, for example. But I do actually like bits of it. Looking for the emeralds is somewhat neat, reminds me of Sonic CD. The vertical Jungle level was fun too. And, honestly, the boss fights aren't too bad, once you account for some janky hit boxes. Would I recommend this? I don't know. It's short enough - it was designed to be played on a handheld system that consumed batteries at a terrifying rate so it couldn't be TOO long of a game. I think ultimately, yes. If just to satisfy curiosity. At least, as long as you already HAVE Sonic Advance DX so you can extract the ROMs. Don't go trying to play this on actual hardware. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/the_nametag
