The official GameBoy Advance port of the Genesis version of Sonic the Hedgehog, released as a 15th anniversary of the original game.
...and Sonic Team failed hard...
First of all the GBA screen got a lower resolution compared to the Genesis (240x160 VS 320x224), and while some graphics have been altered for this, most have not. So we get a zoomed in version showing a smaller area, which makes it harder to see dangers ahead.
The physics are wrong. His jumps feels "heavier" which makes some parts harder, and his accelerating/deceleration is wrong which gives a whole different feeling (this do help if you manage to actually see an enemy suddenly appearing), Sonic reacts strangely to certain objects (I got "stuck" inside a horizontal spring once), the slowdowns if there are too much on the screen (or water) really hurts the gameplay, the music and sound effects feels more simple and some are all gone.
Sonic Team blamed the hardware, that the GBA was not "strong enough" to handle this game, but a proof of conception ROM was later made showing that it is possible to make the game run much better.
Collect all the Chaos Emeralds to see the Good Ending, but the difference is not really worth it.
