Space...
The final frontier.
These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no one has gone before!

This is a prototype of a canceled game based on the fifth Star Trek movie. It is short and got some flaws, but I've played worse Nes games and worse movie-licensed games.
The game only got four levels, and the official reason behind the cancel was that the movie had no scenes that could turn into a game.
The story... is not exactly as the movie, but it is acceptable compared to other movie-licensed games. It follows an early draft of the script, where Sybok is Spock's former classmate instead of his brother. It got some interesting misspellings like Valcan instead of Vulcan. It is too easy to get hit and die if you are not used to the game, and if you die you will be beamed up to Enterprise where McCoy will replenish it with his medical expertise.
Which can be pretty funny in level 2 and 4...
In level 2 you are playng as Scotty, walking around in corridors in the Enterprise, killing enemies and hope that they will drop bombs (you must use 6 bombs on a door to complete the mission, which the game fails at telling you) so you can rescue Kirk, McCoy and Spock. If you die, you will be teleported to McCoy, who you try to rescue, and then back to the start of the stage. On level 4, Kirk is left on the planet because Enterprise can't beam him up. Die, and you will be beamed up, healed by McCoy and then sent back to the start of the level, so you can defeat the powerful being Sha Ka Ree so you can be teleported back to Enterprise...
The third level is a space level, and it is a pretty good one. You must destroy blue asteroids and while it is easy to get hit too many times of them, you will soon learn how to avoid them.
The ending is not finished. Just pictures of the crew with the text from the start of the game.
The controls... are not bad. It takes some time learning how to avoid the enemies and the rocket boots controls need some tweaking, but it is still better than let's say the Simpsons games.
If they had managed to tweak it some, adding one or two more space flying levels and fixed the ending, then it would have been on the better half of the movie-licensed Nes games.
