Sound it Out is a creative experiment where I look at a piece of visual art and come up with a tune on the violin on the spot to describe it.
I have had the honor to be invited to sound out the winners of the Images 2020 Award by Shoreline Arts Alliance (https://www.shorelinearts.org/images-2020-congratulations) This beautiful work titled Tidal Meditation by Isabel Chenoweth won First Honors at the Images 2020 Award. In my Sound it Out of it, I used chords of clashing harmonies (but not dissonant) to describe the intriguing color combination of the whole work. And then I differentiate the textures, strokes and rhythms in sections to depict the character each of the three panels distinctively has. Can you hear which part of the music is describing which panel?
