If were alive today, Clara Schumann would have been able to see her works loved the way they deserve. Back in her days, Clara Schumann was one of the biggest piano virtuosos in the world. She is also known to be married to the composer, Robert Schumann, and was a dear friend and confidante of composer, Johannes Brahms, with whom she might or might not have had an affair. That's right, delete those messages and emails just in case 200 years later your work suddenly becomes so famous that people start digging around to know everything about you.
Written in 1846, the beautiful piano trio by one of the greatest female composers in history is poetic, humorous, loving, while emotionally turbulent, intense and extremely well-structured. When Schumann was developing this work, her husband fell extremely ill, and she also suffered a miscarriage. How did she hang on in this difficult time in life while producing such excellent work? I think her strength and perseverance had lead the way and shined through. She must be an extraordinary human being to be able to be there for her family, friends, while being a piano virtuoso, and a great composer who never till now finally got recognized for what her work deserves. I think she is the original wonder woman.
