Enemies will be no match once these two teamed up. Join the Punk Brothers in their adventure to defeat the scum of the galaxy in this action-packed shooting game called Space Brothers! The aim here is to defeat the galaxy's most wanted bad guys. Take each mission and defend your mothership from wave after wave of fighter planes and other flying machines. Use your selection of guns to defeat them. You can also activate special abilities from your mothership to defeat multiple spaceships. Use your earnings from each mission and buy new weapons for your ships. You can also enhance their firepower too, to match the bad guys!

Just about everyone out there loves big explosions, shooting down wave after wave of bad guys, and just the general reckless mayhem that sci-fi type shooters tend to have. And that's just what you're going to get with Space Brothers, so let's kick back and take a look at this bad boy!

With a name like Space Brothers, it's a bit hard to know what to expect. It could be something like Super Mario Brothers, but set in space. Or it could be something completely different. In this case, it's the latter (although Mario in space does sound like fun, and it's probably been done before). Space Brothers brings you some fun-filled action with lots of guns, lots of shooting, and lots of explosions.

It's pretty obvious from the get-go that this game is many levels above the rest in terms of graphical quality. The artwork is much better than other games in the genre. You've got highly detailed character designs, excellent sprites during gameplay proper, eye-popping effects, and all sorts of other general prettiness. And talking of the effects, you won't get any lame animations here. The muzzle flashes, the explosions of the different ships as you shoot them, they are all tiny little works of art in their own right. The thing that most deserves mention though would be the player-controlled sprite, which is a huge monstrosity of mechanical mayhem. The different parts all animate separately, further reinforcing the image of a huge robot as it trundles along.

Like the graphics, the sound effects are easily top notch. Obviously, the gunfire will be the thing you'll hear the most. Despite being repeated over and over again as you play the game, it rarely feels repetitive, and the smörgåsbord of other sound effects throughout the game are varied enough to give you a fine auditory experience. What's more, Space Brothers also has a nifty little music track that works rather well with the sci-fi theme of the game, while also providing a nice backdrop for the sounds of carnage and mechanical destruction as you go about destroying the endless waves of bad guys.

All of that though, is absolutely moot if the game doesn't have good gameplay. Space Brothers manages to pull it off rather nicely though, and comes off as rather addictive. The basic gameplay is simple, you take your massive guns, and you shoot at the ships coming at you from the left side of the screen. You have to take them down before your shields and health are depleted. To aid in that, you have a variety of different powerups, bonuses, and of course, weapons. These can all be upgraded as you go along, allowing for bigger and even more effective weapons of awesome destruction. And the better the weapons you get, the better you'll be able to destroy things, and of course, the better you'll be able to enjoy the game.

And that just about wraps it up for this little article. Go on and grab yourself a free copy of Space Brothers and get ready for some action-packed fun complete with explosions, bombs, guns, and all sorts of great sci-fi fun.
