4Join the elite team of Metal Slug on a brand new mission in your mobile devices. Metal Slug Defense is a combination of strategy and action, and with your usual bearded prisoners to add. The aim in this game is to eliminate the enemy’s headquarters by deploying units. Each unit requires a certain amount of AP. If you have no AP, you won’t be able to deploy certain units. These units can also use special attacks to help you defeat the enemy’s army. As you progress through each mission, you will be able to unlock new units. Be sure to upgrade them to get an edge in the war.

Overview
Metal Slug Defense is an action packed strategy game, quite different from the usual Metal Slug side scrolling game you got used to but still just as much fun to play, it even features characters from KOF games, and just like before, you'll be battling a multitude of enemies, they range from different armies to giant robots and even huge alien monsters, you need to build defensive towers and buildings that train a variety of troops that you can deploy against your enemies, the battles won't be a walk in the park though as the enemies are also well equipped and quite powerful, and if your base can't keep up with the upgrades and the training of troops, you'll be overwhelmed in no time, and if you think you're good enough against the AI, go online and play the multiplyer mode where you can slug it out with other players all around the world in a 1 on 1 or a 2 on 2 slugfest, so are you up to the challenge?, are your skills enough to beat the other players worldwide and reign supreme?, there's only one way to find out...gear up and play the game!
Graphics and Sound
Metal Slug Defense has beautifully designed classic visuals, it is presented in a 2D dot pixel graphic arts, just like the Metal Slug you've grown to love throughout the years, the character designs are great, even the imported characters looked cool as they were able to retain their original looks without losing the Metal Slug signature art, environments are cool, you'll see a lot of ruined structures during the game with much detail on them, colors are great too, everything is nicely rendered, the game looks vivid and sharp throughout, animations are also great, it looks just like the classic games but this one seems a bit smoother when it comes to movements, music and sounds cool as always, the in game music and the battle sounds all add up to make the game more exciting and fun to play, special effects are pretty, nothing groundbreaking really but we're talking Metal Slug here, anything other than what you see in the game will probably make it ugly as it will ruin the game's signature artwork, overall, the game looks pretty, I like it just the way it is.
Gameplay
Metal Slug Defense as mentioned earlier is not your usual Metal Slug game where you need to slug it out manually with the enemies, in this game, you won't be in total control of the gunfight, but you'll be managing resources, building strategic structures, and training troops among others, once the troops are trained, they go marching on towards the enemy base that is usually located on the far end of the map, you also need to build towers and machineries designed to take down the enemies, upgrades also play an important role in the game, as if you keep on deploying default troops and weapons, they'll just be stomped upon later on in the game.
Features
Metal Slug Defense features a real time strategy action, it features the classic look of the game, 2D dot pixels, you can play it in single player and online multiplayer for up to 4 players, and it features original characters from other games like KOF.
Conclusion
Metal Slug Defense is really not your usual Metal Slug, but it is definitely just as fun, this one is more challenging though as there is much more to consider and much more to do, if you are a fan of the series and want to try something different, you should definitely check this one out.
