The SparkyLinux team has published a new update for its stable series, SparkyLinux 5.13. Check out the news and find out where to download the distro.
SparkyLinux is a light, fast and simple Linux distribution, designed for old and new computers with custom Enlightenment and LXDE desktops. It was built in the testing branch of Debian.
The SparkyLinux team has now published a new snapshot of the stable Sparky 5 Nibiru series, SparkyLinux 5.13.
What's new in SparkyLinux 5.13
SparkyLinux 5.13 arrives about four months after SparkyLinux 5.12 and is synchronized with the Debian 10.6 Buster software repositories on November 3, 2020.
This means that if you want to install SparkyLinux, you will receive all the latest updates and security patches from the box in your new installation.
As expected, the new ISO version includes several updated components such as Linux kernel 4.19.152 LTS for 64 and 32-bit computers, Linux kernel 5.4.72-v7 + LTS for ARMhf platforms, Mozilla Firefox 78.4.0 ESR browser, Mozilla e Client -mail Thunderbird 78.4.0, LibreOffice 6.1.5 office package and VLC 3.0.11 media player.
In related news, SparkyLinux repositories have recently been populated with several new packages, including MellowPlayer streaming music player, Boost Note markup editor, comprehensive FFQueue GUI for FFMpeg, Hiero bitmap font packaging tool, as well as the Linux 5.9 kernel. 2 and 5.10 RC1.
Download and try SparkyLinux 5.13
SparkyLinux 5.13 is available for download in the usual flavors with the desktop environments LXQt 0.14.1, Xfce 4.12.5 and Openbox 3.6.1 (MinimalGUI).
A MinimalCLI edition is also available for download without a graphical interface for advanced users who want to fully customize their installations.
To upgrade your installations, simply run the Sparky Upgrade utility or run the following commands on a terminal emulator.
