Specialized Needs for Jobs In Motion Graphics & Visual Effects | Full Sail University
Being versatile in the visual effects and motion graphics industry can make all the difference when focusing on your career. Companies such as Pixar are looking for specialized artists because they’re going to ask that you work on specific parts of their projects. Ultimately, versatility depends on the size and type of the company. It is important that generalists in this industry are able to come in and handle any problem that may be thrown at them, so a broad base of knowledge can be useful. Specialists are great in the industry but they’re not going to be able to work to resolve general issues that may come up, especially in a smaller company, where generalists are valuable. At the end of the day, it’s critical to have an awareness of where you are going to work and what you’re going to be doing, so you can prepare a demo reel that lines up with the companies who are interviewing you. Networking is key, so the most consistent way to get work in the visual effects and motion graphics industry is to connect with people and form relationships.
