Arcade version of the maze/exploration game by Tim Martin of Micrographic Image from 1983. Guide your explorer into the underground depths to collect treasures, keys, and energy drinks while traversing moving platforms, walking across appearing/disappearing rocks, blasting rocks with bombs, climbing vines/ropes (can't quite tell which they are), and dealing with all sorts of creatures on your way to the end-of-the-area door. The keys you collect will be of 3 different colors, and will open a door of the corresponding color. Treasures are not really necessary to complete your goals, but collecting a chest will often trigger another treasure above to appear, which is a good way to score points in this game. It's helpful to know the movement patterns of the enemies, since a lot of them can surprise/overwhelm you easily. Your primary weapon is a fireball blast (I guess?), and is useful on most enemies (though some will only be stunned for a couple seconds). Collect the bombs and you can set one down by pressing down and attack-- GET AWAY! Even if you aren't right next to the bomb when it detonates it can still kill you. Something that will NEVER kill you, however, is falling a great distance! Very handy to know. Definitely a decent time-waster, unlike its very frustrating NES port. 4 levels of play that repeat upon completion. Suggested by YouTube user Quuhod. An arcade sequel (Spelunker II) was released in Japan only in 1987.
