Splatoon 3: Bringing down Horrorboros in Salmon Run Big Run [37-40-46-xs, 33/1190]
More Big Run! Me and a squidmate have picked up a couple of solid randos, and we're sticking together for some good Runs. We're also focusing more on luring bosses back to the basket. Salmon Run New Wave maybe doesn't demand that, and almost encourages the splatting of bosses further away to avoid being overwhelmed, but Big Run needs that egg count. Of course, high tide enforces that a bit as well. Some Flyfish cause some problems but are soon dealt with, and I try to get what eggs I can down in the pit without lingering, because that area is a trap. When more Flyfish appear with a couple of Stingers, I think it prudent to use my first Inkjet, which hopefully takes from pressure off everyone, and we are given time to dunk a few last eggs. It's a decent first wave.
I have the Undercover Brolly for the second wave, which feels a bit weak, but I will do what I can with it. The first few bosses pose few problems, but I find myself out of position before too long and get a bit lucky with being able to go behind the block and leap back to the safety of the basket. I splat a Maws there but don't stick around the dunk the eggs, seeing a Stinger appear on the other side of the Academy. I dash across, splat it, and try to bring back two eggs, getting unlucky with the first bouncing off the inert basket. Multiple Lids appear, and we do the right thing by riding them, although I don't jump properly, and end up getting bitten by a Maws. That's not great, as it's time spent not putting eggs in the basket, and an Inkstrike leaves plenty of them lying around. We cram the eggs in as the clock runs down, and another spot of poor luck has my leaving one behind. Never mind, it's another good wave.
On to the third wave, and it's back to high tide, this time with an N-ZAP. I touch up the walls with ink, creating our escape routes, before a Stinger and Scrapper give us a push-pull problem. A squidmate deals with the Stinger as the Scrapper is splatted close enough to deliver its eggs, We then get Maws and Steel Eels, easy to bring to the basket, and another Scrapper. Another Inkstrike splats a Flyfish and Drizzler, which is excellent, and I waste an Inkjet splatting a Lid, although I manage to redirect a Drizzler's missile too. I don't waste my time on the Fish Finger nearby as time is running out, and focus on getting more eggs in the basket. It's a good total, if not a new record for this Big Run for me, but we can't relax yet. Here comes a Horrorboros.
That's a nice Dolphin to state the extra wave, splatting a Stinger, Steelhead, and Flipper, and I've had it explained to me now that I should be shooting my golden eggs at the Rob's B-bomb in its mouth. No one told me I had to aim! I do my best, and get a hit or two, just maybe not at its mouth. I finally realise a Stinger is down to two pots and splat that, helping a Drizzler on its way too, putting me in a good position to shoot at the Rob's mouth, detonating its bomb for a big chunk of damage. Then I just hit its body for a bit, with the eggs lying around. A couple of Scrappers give more eggs, and another bomb is detonated. I try to do more, but get caught up with Chum, wasting an egg on them, and then getting splatted. We're even knocked down to one squid standing, but they revive the others and finish off the Rob! Woomy!
