Splatoon 3: Sticking it to the Zuna in Salmon Run [29-46-33-xs, 27/1421]
Down to low tide! And cannons! I'm having one of them. I ink a little patch behind the cannon first, for quick ink recovery, and can't help jumping out to deliver the occasional egg, but there is a responsibility for the cannoneers to keep the Cohocks away from squidmates. I get stuck a bit when a Scrapper sits at just the wrong place, and the contours of the shore have me shooting turf. I hop out to start shooting normally, and get a bit caught up with eggs, but it's great to see my squidmates cycle in and out of cannons as it happens. That leads to a straightforward and successful wave.
Back down to low tide, and with the Dynamo Roller. It's a long way to go with the heavy thing. I'd rather not go much further either, so I hold back and wait for the bosses. But I can't resist squishing Cohocks, a perk of the Dynamo Roller. I leave the Fish Finger alone and head for the Lid, which gets confused with a second Lid, and then I try to outrun a Steel Eel while rolling. I'm not faster, as it turns out. I get back to the action, splatting Steelheads and another Lid, and throwing a Splat Bomb at a Flyfish whilst I'm there, but I'm back to running away, and this time without ink. With two squidmates splatted, I think it's time to use a B-bomb. A Lid tries to interfere, but they just get splatted, and now we have loads of eggs, added to by a couple of Flippers. We dunk them all, add a few more, and end with a decent tally.
On to the third wave, and the tide comes in. That makes it time to ink the walls. A Drizzler is an easy start, and other bosses are splatted where I don't see them. I see the Maws coming for me, though, and try to splat a Fish Finger from afar. When that doesn't go so well, I stick with Flippers, the Tri-stringer making light work of inking their patches. No one deals with the Stinger, maybe because it's targeting me and not them, but I make the best of it, until a Flipper combines to make it a bit much. I drop down, and use my second B-bomb to, I dunno, let's see if I can hit the Big Shot. It's academic by this point. We've made quota, things aren't too congested. We complete the Run. Or do we?!
Here comes the Zuna. Whee, I have the bucket! A Fish Finger gives us what look like easy eggs, but that jump is further than it looks. Combined with a Steelhead's bomb, I don't last long. I'm revived and get up the Fish Finger, but the Zuna has moved on. I miss one egg launch, so hold on to the next and move around too. Steelheads offer eggs, but a Stinger causes me problems, which turns in to two Stingers. A third appears, and I move to splat that to stop it being a problem for a squidmate, all taking time away from the Zuna. Its health is coming down, though, and is close enough for me to hit it with some eggs. It takes me a while to shuffle back-and-forth, but my squidmates must be doing well, because it only takes a couple more before we splat the Zuna, and quite early. Woomy!
