Oh.. buddy, that's rough. Well, we've found our first truly bad(?) shooter that might just be a example of things that bog down throwback shooters. I only knew of this game by searching up 2017 releases and digging into my Library I don't ever recall buying this one. STRAFE was released on May 9th 2017 by Pixel Titans and Devolver Digital.

STRAFE doesn't have much of a story but we're a Scrapper who's searching for metal when we find that Aliens have attacked a area, and from our Hub Spaceship we enter into the gory carnage. The levels draw randomly with enemies and placement and tbh, STRAFE does to the credit emulate the game it was inspired by: Quake, However, the controls are ATTROCIOUS. I had to reduce the look and movement sensitivity because default? Its ridiculous. The health system sucks: You have no invincibility frames so your shield can be gone in a second if you get surrounded, health is rare.

Weapons to the credit of Devolver Digital are punchy, have power, and your magazines are larger per say other shooters but most weapons you walk over vs your starter weapon have only a single magazine and it takes scrap to make more magazines. Its not trully a lost cause, but STRAFE despite its well attempt to be like Quake is a mess of blood, broken controls, cheaps deaths and a agonizingly looping music tracks
