Dead Island: Definitive Edition - A Price To Die For
I should've stayed where I was, no vacations for me anymore. Ah had it seemed so long ago.. the year 2011, and, for that matter, 2016. I sometimes come back to explore this game because it feels like one of the true good zombie games, in a sea of awful ones. Original game was released in September 2011, with Defintive edition launching with Dead Island Riptide and Retro Rampage on May 31rst 2016 on ps4.
Dead Island tells the story of a fictional country named Banoi, near Papua New Guinea and Australia in the midst of a massive zombie outbreak. 4 characters are selectable with various atributes: Logan Carter, Sam B, Xian Mei, and Purna Jackson. I selected Logan as he's the melee expert. The gameplay is a open world as we solve quests and earn xp from enemies. Like another zombie game, Dead Rising, Dead Islands weapons have a integrity system where they break after a certain point and much like other games with crafting you can use a bench to upgrade or make weapons.
I am, I admit, somewhat disappointed that, even in Performance mode Dead Island's defintive edition is locked to 30FPS (although I know this was the case on ps4 too), this is most seem in the screen blur and motion but I suppose it can be forgiven since it was so long ago. And this was, afterall once a ps3 game. The combat I can take or leave as its a bit flimsy requiring the kick and attack combo since the characters only have 4 bars of health. Co-op? Eh, Its ok, but I disabled it because i didn't want surprises while doing this episode.
