Street Fighter Alpha 3 [PS1] - play as Final Bison with S-ISM
This is a play-through using Final Bison with S-ISM in the PS1 version of Street Fighter Alpha 3. Read on below for more information...
Final Bison is the final boss for the vast majority of characters. He is an unplayable character in this version of the game.
The S-ISM gauge is a non-selectable mode in this version of the game as well.
===== Additional Information =====
---- Final Bison is not an actual 'separate' character in the game's data. Instead, he is an additional 'flag', which is activated on normal M.Bison when the player faces him as the boss.
---- When this flag is activated, Bison gains several differences in his moves, most notably a completely unique version of the Psycho Crusher, known as the Final Psycho Crusher. Also, his [HP] basics emit a large wave of energy which gives him a larger hitbox for these moves.
---- He has a completely different pre-fight intro where he floats down surrounded with energy.
---- For some reason, his [HP] energy/aura effects sometimes flashes a different shade of colour between rounds. Flaw?
---- He also has a unique ISM as the CPU. This ISM is also known as S-ISM (Shadaloo-ISM). However this ISM is separate and does not come with Final Bison.
---- As mentioned earlier, the S-ISM mode is a non-selectable ISM.
---- The S-ISM in the PS1 version of the game, despite the gauge looking as if it's one whole level, actually works just like A-ISM (where you get 3 Levels of gauge). On the S-ISM gauge though, the 3 segments are not signaled - instead it 'appears' to be one whole level power bar (like X-ISM), but it functions exactly like the A-ISM. You cannot tell if you have Level 1 or Level 2.
---- If you select him with X-ISM mode, his special move Psycho Crusher will be invisible.
---- When fighting against Rose in a normal match, his pre-fight intro with her is incorrect in this version (she doesn't throw her cards at him).
---- In the video you can see me sometimes using Level 1 or Level 2 Final Psycho Crushers, something the CPU Final Bison NEVER does (CPU only uses Level 3 Final Psycho Crusher).
---- He has the Knee Press Nightmare super combo as well.
---- You can fully complete the game with him. You'll get regular Bison's route, dialogues and ending. This isn't a surprise because technically it's really just regular Bison anyway.
---- He is known as Vega in Japan.
---- He can also be known as Shin Bison, Shin Vega or Final Vega.
===== About Final Bison =====
He is an alternative version of M.Bison, which is implemented via a flag which activates on regular Bison. Therefore technically, he really is just regular Bison but powered up. His most powerful move by far is undoubtedly his Final Psycho Crusher. Have the move charged up, wait for your opponent to jump and pull the trigger. Hehe.
His basic Hard Punch / Fierce moves are also powered up as well, as the aura it creates gives him a larger hitbox. His jumping HP is an example of this.
===== About PS1 SFA3 =====
The PS1 version of SFA3 is a superb port considering the hardware limitations of the console. It actually has MORE characters and more content than the original Arcade version.
In comparison to SFA2, the animation for the larger characters (i.e. Zangief) and heavy animation characters (Gen) is much better this time round, and that's due to the hit sparks, block sparks, dust, etc. being rendered as 3D objects, which saves video memory for more character animation frames.
The extra features and modes, especially the World Tour mode, finds it's way to other console ports. Always remember that it originated from the PS1 version!
