Changes in the Silk Road and Transfer of Shipping Centers
Layman's Abstract: The Beibu Gulf Offshore Silk Road is a major part of the South China Sea Maritime Silk Road, which has been crucial for trade and cultural connections between China and Southeast Asia. This chapter looks at the history of the Beibu Gulf Offshore Silk Road, showing how it changed over time, with new routes and shifting centers for shipping. It traces the development from the Qin and Han Dynasties, growing through several dynasties, and reaching its peak during the Song Dynasty. Later, in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, advancements in navigation and Vietnam's independence helped the Silk Road grow even more, with the key shipping center moving from one place to another. This chapter shows how the Beibu Gulf Offshore Silk Road played a key role in both regional and global exchanges.
