PREVIOUSLY:
Arriving at Muse City, Riou, Nanami and Jowy tries to pretend being Alex and his family but were immediately caught and imprisoned by the guards. They spend a night in their cell, and gets freed in the morning with Flik and Viktor's help.
The trio drops Pilika off to Leona at the inn before visiting the town hall to meet the mayor of the city Anabelle and her assistant Jess. Viktor introduces them to Anabelle, who immediately recognizes the three, most notably Riou and Nanami, who are the adopted kids of her Master Genkaku, which surprised Viktor. The mayor asks about Genkaku's health, to which Nanami reveals about his passing. She tells the two that they will talk more about Genkaku when they have the time before passing them on to her assistant's care.
Having prepared two sets of Highland uniforms, Jess requests a favor from Riou and Jowy, to infiltrate the enemy camp at the border in order to learn how much provisions the Highland soldiers have with them. No matter how dangerous their mission may be, the two willingly agrees as they want to help in the war in any way they can.
