PREVIOUSLY:
Riou and Jowy manages to infiltrate the enemy camp and learns that the Highland soldiers had prepared two weeks worth of provisions with them, which means that they are preparing for a quick assault. After exiting the supplies tent however, they are quickly discovered by Rowd, but were able to hide with the help of Luca Blight's half sister Jillia Blight.
The duo was served tea, and had a talk with the princess about her brother Luca. After the chaos outside had calmed down, Riou and Jowy attempted to escape, but were once again caught by Rowd. They fend off a group of Highland soldiers, but the numbers were just too much so Jowy insists that Riou escapes first and promises that he'll make it back as he uses his Black Sword Rune to buy him some time.
Riou and the others make their way back to Muse City, where they meet up with Flik and Viktor to tell them about what had transpired at the border. The two mercenary leaders accompanied Riou's party and furiously charged in the city hall. Jess nonchalantly thanked Riou for the vital information he had gathered, while not showing any concern of Jowy being left behind. This angered Viktor even more and Flik questions Anabelle if the state was in such a bad shape that it has to use kids for such dangerous missions. Anabelle, while thankful of Riou managing to attain such valuable information, apologizes that they could not do anything for Jowy since they have their hands full with Highland.
The group returns back to the inn, Viktor and Flik apologizes for not being with them for the mission. But Nanami reassures that Jowy is just fine, since he always keeps his promises.
She, Riou, and Pilika all wait at the gate for Jowy's return. They tell stories about their childhood, and thinks that when Jowy returns, they will go to a far away place, far from the conflicts and wars.
A few moments later, Jowy appears before them safe and sound. The group welcomes his return, while he thanks them for waiting for him.
