With the advent of Mario Kart 8's track studio, I plan on spending a vast majority of my modding time going forward on creating new tracks for that game rather than Mario Kart Wii. However, before I left Wii behind, I wanted to clean up a few things on Super Bell Hill since I felt I've gotten a bit better since then at making custom tracks.
Most notably, the course has been reduced in size and length in its mid-section. The original course layout was definitely larger than I intended and the new version has much better pacing. It's still not the most exciting track, but it's at least a bit faster paced than it was before. The road is also much smoother than before. Cat Goombas are the other big gameplay change. I really wanted to have them jump in the air and come down like in 3D World, but the only real object I could think of to replace was the small penguin which rotates to face path direction and has a duplicate for reflections so it ended up not working out. Still, I kept their leap animation so they'll dash across the road in one direction and walk in the other.
I also gave the map a full shadow map. It kind of makes the track a bit darker than I'd like and I may still play with it a bit, but I still think overall it looks better than the flat look of the original.
