With the first Grand Star from the gateway to the starry sky, Rosalina asks Mario to help with collecting the Power Stars so they can provide power to the Comet Observatory, and the first galaxy Mario enters is Good Egg Galaxy. This galaxy has a number of planets, and he comes across a fusion of Petey Piranha and a dinosaur.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

Mario's adventures throughout the galaxy begins, and the first dome is the Terrace, and once Mario enters, Polari explains that galaxies are observed in the domes, and the Blue Luma will turn into a Pull Star, and you can unlock new galaxies by collecting Power Stars, and our first area is Good Egg Galaxy. Polari is never referred to by name in this game, his name is in the instruction manual for Super Mario Galaxy, he is the Black Luma and the advisor of Rosalina.
The first place is Good Egg Galaxy, and this is some great music, I do like Super Mario Galaxy's soundtrack. There are a lot of planets in Good Egg Galaxy, and from the starting planet, the Lumas will explain about Star Bits, which you can pick up with the cursor, and you will get an extra life for every 50 Star Bits, and the Octorok-like creatures are called Octoombas, they are easy to defeat, they do look like Octoroks from The Legend of Zelda series.
On the underside of the planet, and at the top is a Luma that will turn into a Launch Star, the next planet has boulders, and if you spin into the weak spot, which is the red part, you can break them for some Star Bits. There are 5 Star Chips on that planet, the next planet has a ? Coin which creates a trail of Star Bits, and you have to defeat a Piranha Plant and spin on the Sproutle vine to the next planet.
There is a secret on the next planet, you can enter a Warp Pipe that takes you to the Flipswitch planet, which I didn't know about until recently. I will show the other path, as you do visit the Dino Piranha mission again later in the game. The invisible bag enemy is called a Petapeta, those are like the Moneybags from Super Mario 64, where they drop a lot of Star Bits when defeated. The Block-Climb Planet has Octoombas, and a crystal which you can break for the Launch Star, which takes you to a boss fight with Dino Piranha.
Dino Piranha is very easy, all you have to do is spin attack the end of his tail to break him out of the egg, and three times to defeat him, he is not that difficult, and defeating him gives you a Star.
After Polari gives Mario a lesson about Star Bits, which you can use to feed Lumas or stun enemies, the next mission is A Snack of Cosmic Proportions. There is a Blue Luma on the planet underside who turns into Pull Stars, and that leads you to the Hungry Luma, which requires 100 Star Bits, which you can get from some of the enemies, and the green bulbs can be used to defeat the spiky plants. Once you have 100 Star Bits, feed them to the Hungry Luma, and he turns into a planet, and that has a lot of green bulbs, and if it bounces back to you, you get knocked back and lose a few Star Bits, at the top of the planet is a Launch Star taking you to the Pill planet. Shatter the crystal to enter the pill, and it will take you to a 2D-side scrolling area where gravity is different, red arrows are upward gravity, and blue arrows are downward gravity. A Launch Star is at the end, and it will take you to a Star planet, and there are 5 Blue Star Chips, which create Pull Stars, and you will need them to get the Power Star.
King Kaliente's Battle Fleet is next, and you can use the orange Warp Pipe to get to the roof of the house, unless you can Triple Jump your way up there. Collecting all the song notes will give you a 1-Up, and on the next planet is a Toad, who tells you the spiky things hate coconuts, so the fruit from Super Mario Sunshine is back, but you can spin into them to knock down enemies. Defeating a spiky flower allows you to use the Sling Star to another planet, and use the coconuts to defeat a Big Pokey. The next planet has Chain Chomps, or just Chomps, and to defeat them, the Warp Pipe takes you to a spherical area with a ? Coin, which gives you a Rainbow Star, so you can turn invincible, and that is how you can defeat Chomps, and they give a good amount of Star Bits. The Sling Star takes you to the Chomp Saucer Planet, and there are Bullet Bills there, and the Launch Star takes you to the Airship, and these enemies, I am not making it up, are called Octopuses, you have to send coconut back at them to defeat them.
The Life Mushroom gives 3 extra life, and the boss is King Kaliente, and he is not that tough, he attacks by shooting coconuts or fireballs, spin the coconuts back at him to damage him, and the third phase, he sends Lava Bubbles out. After the third hit, King Kaliente will be defeated, and you can get your Power Star.
