Super Mario Party | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary
87It's time for a party and there ain't no party like a Mario Party. I have such fond memories of the Mario Party games on Nintendo 64 and Gamecube and even the Wii. I did not own a WiiU, but now that I archive Switch games I knew we had to get some Mario Party games in there.
Super Mario Party was the first one that was released on Switch and it was yet again such a fun experience. Compared to the later releases of Superstars and Jamboree it is actually a pretty limited Mario Party, but it looks great and actually has some unique mechanics that I woud like to see return someday.
You have four boards to choose from and each has a nice gimmick to them, though I would have liked the boards to be a bit more complex. The coolest feature in this game by far is that you can have buddies follow you along. If you hit a certain space you will receive a follower and this adds a ton of new possibilities. Besides adding a number on the dice that you roll, you also get to use your followers in certain minigames that give you an advantage. I would love to see this in upcoming games as even in Jamboree they did not implement this system.
Super Mario Party is a great time with fun modes, but what I am really excited for is moving on to the afterparty with Mario Party Superstars! See you all then!
